During anaesthesia, the
expired gases still contain some of the anaesthetic
gases and this may be rebreathed if the carrbondioxide
is removed in the absorber. It consists of a container
filled with sodalime through which the patient’s
expired gases are passed.
This is efficient in the use of anaesthetic gases,
reduces pollution of the room air, conserves heat
and moisture and does not normally require humdification.
